Welcome to Orrets Meadow Primary School
"To raise aspirations of every child and give them confidence to fulfil their potential through postitive experiences"
Welcome to Orrets Meadow's Website! Our website is an exciting opportunity to be able to show all members of our school community what a caring and friendly place of learning Orrets Meadow School is!
Our most recent Ofsted report, May 2012, found Orrets Meadow for the third time to be an 'Outstanding' school.
Orrets Meadow is a special school for children aged 7-11, who have a statement for SpLD and/or Social Communication Difficulties including Autism. Children will have difficulties in reading and spelling. They may also have difficulties with maths, organisational skills, spatial awareness and fine/gross motor skills.
Orrets Meadow offers small classes, tuition using multi-sensory techniques and a carefully structured approach with opportunities for reinforcement and revision. Our learning programmes and methods are tried and tested but are flexible and adapted to suit the needs of the individual. Success and praise build confidence and ensure progress, both personally and academically. We work with many professionals to help remove barriers to learning including; School nurse, Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Camhs. We use our Pupil Premium to fund both a Speech Therapist on site one full day a week and weekly visits from Pressure Points and a Clinical Psychologist.
In September 2013 we opened two new ASC classes for children with social communicationn difficulties and literacy difficulties. The pupils in these classes are in brand new classrooms and have access to a sensory room. The progress these children have made socially, emotionally and educationally since they joined is exceptional. This September we are opening an ASC class for KS1 pupils. They too will have a brand new classroom for continuous provision, outdoor learning and acces to their own sensory room and toilets/shower room.
Our policy is to re-awaken interest in learning, to restore children's confidence and self-esteem and to help every pupil reach his or her potential.
I do hope that you enjoy your time visiting the website and would welcome you to school in person if you would like to see us 'in action'. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
