Fox Class - Mr Ferris-Rice
Welcome to Fox Class
We are a vibrant and mature class of 11 year 6 pupils.
Our class teachers are Mr Ferris-Rice, Mrs Albertson and Mrs Nicholls.
We work very hard in Fox class, but we enjoy learning and are always eager to rise to a challenge.
Each morning we follow a multi-sensory programme for phonics. We split into groups to help with recognition, sounds, handwriting and the fine and gross motors skills required to write comfortably.
In English we cover a wide range of topics that we enjoy. Recently we have been learning all about traditional tales and have even created our own versions of these. During Science week we explored instructional writing and used this knowledge to write up our experiment on light.
In Maths we use a lot of different techniques to help us excel. We use concrete resources such as base ten and numicon. We are continuing to develop our arithmetic by looking closely at the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Along with these have have begun to develop our reasoning skills.
In the afternoons we are continuing our Dimensions curriculum, which we are finding exciting as we are able to cover all of our curriculum areas. So far this year we have started learning about Law and Order and how justice works in a range of countries. This has been very interesting and informative for us as we have had the opportunity to develop our awareness of the world.
In computing we are learning about e-safety to make sure that we are able to access the internet in a safe and secure way.
In addition to all of this, this year we are also developing our social skills and life skills. In life skills we are looking at our personal information and time skills.
As Foxes we follow our Orrets behaviour system, but we are all really well behaved.
